Quick start
After installing and launching tessoa, work through the flow below.
First launch
- A fresh start (no previous session) opens the welcome page: common actions with shortcut chips you can click.
- If you quit normally last time, tessoa restores tabs, splits, and each tab’s folder.
From the welcome page you can:
- Open the command palette
- Create a new tab
- Focus the sidebar quick search
(Windows also shows an Install / system integration row.)
Open folders
- Double-click a folder to enter it;
Enteractivates the focused item. - Use the nav bar for back / forward / up, or the shortcuts in Keyboard shortcuts.
- Mouse back / forward buttons match the nav bar.
Command palette
Press Ctrl+Shift+P (macOS: ⌘+Shift+P) to open the command palette.
From here you can:
- Search and run common commands
- Switch theme, language, and GPU
- Open the keybinding editor
- (Windows) Open install / system integration
The palette is the main entry for settings and power features — you do not need a deep menu tree.
Tabs & splits
- Ctrl+T new tab, Ctrl+W close current tab.
- Closing the last tab does not quit — you return to the welcome page. Quit with the window close button (or Ctrl+Q / macOS ⌘+Q).
- Splits divide the workspace into panes — handy for comparing two folders.
Views
Several views are available (details list, icon grid, columns, gallery, and more). Switching is instant; the last view is remembered with the session.
Suggested next steps
- Change theme / language in the palette and confirm it sticks after restart.
- Skim Keyboard shortcuts.
- Use the FAQ if install or update questions come up.
