v0.28.3

v0.28.3 was released on 2026-10-09. This release adds horizontal scrolling in Details view, dragging folders onto the address bar star to add favorites, and switching tabs with the mouse wheel. It improves access to batch rename, column width persistence and favorites ordering, and fixes Windows display and startup issues, Linux storage lists and other issues.

For the change types (New / Improved / Fixed), see Changelog. This page uses the default shortcuts. On macOS, use ⌘ instead of Ctrl.

New

The three settings for switching tabs with the mouse wheel are in Settings → Layout → Tab Bar. All three are off by default.

#KindChange
1NewDragging a folder and hovering over the star to the left of the address bar opens the favorites pop-up. You can place the folder inside a favorites folder or between two favorites. Hovering over a collapsed favorites folder expands it. Dropping into the empty space below the list inside the pop-up or directly onto the star adds the folder to the end of Favorites. On Windows, you can also drag folders from File Explorer and other applications. The original folder stays in place.
2NewWhen the table in Details view is wider than the pane, a horizontal scrollbar appears at the bottom. Drag the thumb, click the track, hold Shift while scrolling the wheel, or swipe horizontally on a trackpad to see the columns on the right. Previously, double-clicking the divider to the right of the Name column to fit long file names could push the other columns outside the pane, leaving them inaccessible.
3NewWith Switch Tabs with Mouse Wheel on, scrolling anywhere over the tab bar switches tabs: up goes to the previous tab, and down goes to the next. Switching stops at the first or last tab. Hold Shift while scrolling to scroll the tab bar instead. In a split view, this switches tabs in the tab bar under the pointer.
4NewWith Switch Tabs with Right Button + Wheel on, hold the right mouse button and scroll the wheel in the window to switch tabs. Releasing the button after scrolling does not open a menu. If you do not scroll, the context menu opens when you release the button. In a split view, this switches tabs in the pane under the pointer when you press the right button. If the pointer is outside the panes, such as over the sidebar or quick bar, it switches tabs in the focused pane.
5NewTurning on either wheel switching setting reveals Wrap Around. With this on, scrolling down past the last tab continues from the first tab, and scrolling up past the first continues from the last. This setting only affects wheel switching. Ctrl+Tab continues to wrap around as before.

Improved

#KindChange
6ImprovedPressing F2 with multiple items selected opens batch rename, just like Ctrl+F2. With one item selected, it still edits that item's name directly. Previously, F2 renamed only one item in a multiple selection, or could do nothing after a box selection.
7ImprovedAfter double-clicking the divider to the right of Name makes the table wider than the pane, column widths no longer change with the window size and are preserved when reopening the window. Widening the window enough to show the whole table leaves empty space on the right without changing column widths. Dragging a divider until the table's right edge meets the pane's right edge, choosing Size columns to fit window, or showing a new column restores automatic resizing with the window.
8ImprovedFavorites folders and bookmarked directories at the same level can be reordered among each other. Favorites folders are groups created within Favorites; previously, they always appeared before bookmarked directories. You can now drag them in the sidebar Favorites page, the favorites pop-up opened from the address bar star, and the quick bar to change their relative order. New favorites folders are added at the end of their level. On the quick bar, dragging onto the center of a favorites folder button places the item inside it; dragging onto either side inserts the item before or after it.

Fixed

#KindChange
9FixedWindows: Fixes black borders at the top and left of the window, shifted content, and clicks landing at different positions from the pointer when using OpenGL on some older graphics cards, such as Intel Bay Trail and Ivy Bridge integrated graphics. This issue was introduced in 0.28.2 and mostly affects Windows 10.
10FixedWindows: Fixes a delay of over twenty seconds when restoring a window last opened on This PC or inside a disconnected mapped network drive. The window can now appear before the connection check finishes. Network drives initially use the drive letter as their name, then show the volume label if connected or a red cross on the icon if the connection fails.
11FixedWindows: Fixes misaligned rows for disconnected network drives and optical drives without a disc on This PC, including contents appearing under the wrong type, file system or capacity columns and an extra expand arrow at the start of the row.
12FixedLinux: Fixes empty lists in the sidebar's Storage page and This PC, and storage folder trees that could not be expanded. These now list Root and mounted hard disk partitions, USB drives, optical discs and network locations. Local disks show available space. System mounts such as /boot, Docker and Snap are excluded.
13FixedWindows: Fixes blurry or jagged icons in context menu entries added by third-party applications at higher scaling levels, such as 200%.
14FixedWindows: Fixes files being moved to the folder beneath the favorites pop-up when dragged from another application and dropped onto the open pop-up. Dropping a folder there now only adds it to favorites, leaving the original folder in place.
15FixedFixes the tab bar failing to scroll to an offscreen tab selected with Ctrl+Tab when Tab Overflow is set to Scroll and many tabs are open.
16FixedFixes tabs activating one after another as the tab bar scrolls beneath a stationary pointer with Switch Tabs on Hover on. Hover switching now requires moving the pointer onto another tab.

Downgrade notice

Warning

Downgrading to 0.28.2 or earlier returns favorites folders to the start of each level. Favorites are not lost, and the order among bookmarked directories stays the same. The relative order you set between favorites folders and directories cannot be preserved.

Downgrading also loses the three wheel switching settings. After upgrading to this release again, these settings return to off and need to be enabled again.
