Selection & checkmarks

  • Click to select a file or folder; arrow keys move focus.
  • Space checks / unchecks the focused item.
  • Ctrl+A selects all visible items.
  • Many file actions apply to the checked set; with nothing checked they usually apply to the focused item.

Copy, move & delete

ActionDefault (Windows / Linux)Notes
CopyCtrl+CApp + system clipboard
CutCtrl+XMoves on paste
PasteCtrl+VInto the current folder
UndoCtrl+ZRecent paste / cut-move, etc.
DeleteDeleteTo Recycle Bin (undoable)

On macOS, copy / cut / paste / undo use ; delete defaults to +Backspace.

Rename

  • Single item: F2
  • Batch regex rename: Ctrl+F2 (checked set; otherwise the focused item)

Batch rename previews new names in the list before you confirm.

  • Ctrl+F: focus the pane filter (visible items in the current folder).
  • Alt+F: focus sidebar quick search (recursive filename search across open tabs).

Layouts (named workspaces)

The sidebar Layouts group saves the current split + tab scene as a switchable workspace:

  • Leaving a layout auto-saves it; switching back restores what you left.
  • Save as, create blank, rename, or delete layouts.
  • The window title shows the active layout name for taskbar recognition.

Session restore

On a normal quit, tessoa saves the workspace (splits, tabs, folders, views, sort, and more) and restores it next launch. If a folder no longer exists, you get a missing-path notice and can navigate away manually.

Preview

Image and text previews are supported; PDF preview is available in builds that include it. Exact capability can vary by version and platform.
