v0.28.1

v0.28.1 was released on 2026-10-06. This release adds folder statistics from Everything on Windows and fixes lingering checkboxes in pop-up panels and search issues with folders directly under drive roots.

For the change types (New / Improved / Fixed), see Changelog.

New

#KindChange
1NewWindows: Settings → List → Calculate Folder Sizes Automatically now includes Count Other Media with Everything, enabled by default. For storage media with automatic scans disabled, and volumes whose medium cannot be identified, tessoa can read subfolder counts, file counts and total sizes from the Everything index without scanning the disk. Media with automatic scans enabled are still scanned directly by tessoa.

This feature requires Calculate Folder Sizes Automatically to be enabled, Everything to be installed and running, and Index attributes to be enabled in Everything. If Everything is unavailable, attribute indexing is disabled or the folder is not indexed, the statistics columns still show Not calculated. See Folder Size for the settings.

Hovering a statistic shows From the Everything index. Indexed statistics follow tessoa's hide rules, but hard links, folders the current account cannot access, Everything exclusions and volumes mounted in folders can cause differences from a direct scan. Click a statistic or press Ctrl+K to scan and recalculate directly in tessoa, regardless of the medium-specific switches.

Fixed

#KindChange
2FixedFixes checkboxes briefly remaining visible after a filter pop-up closes. Checkboxes in TagSpaces import, name-conflict dialogs and batch rename pop-ups also fade in and out with their content.
3FixedWindows: Fixes folders directly under drive roots, such as D:\GitDir, missing from sidebar search results when using Everything. Also fixes these folders appearing but failing to open when Search the whole PC is enabled.

Downgrade notice

Warning

Downgrading to 0.28.0 or earlier loses the Count Other Media with Everything setting. If you had disabled it, upgrading to this release again restores it to enabled, and you need to disable it again.
